Hi,
I'm Jacy King!

As a professional actor for over 20 years, learning to authentically communicate is not just a requirement for the job, it is the job. Acting requires a deliberate exploration of voice through character. I have spent my acting career studying character communication.
A few years ago I was asked to teach an online public speaking course to a group of teenage girls. I gathered my acting tools and adapted them to public speaking. As I witnessed these intelligent young women grow in confidence and become more powerful communicators, it changed the trajectory of my life. I wanted to continue to strengthen and empower women's voices in my community.
I began attending Gonzaga University where I could specifically study women's communication and leadership. I recently received my Master's in Communication and Leadership Studies, and my thesis:"Authentic Communication and Leadership Skills: Elevating Your Storytelling, Virtual Presence and Brand Management for Success" is slated to be published in the text book "Leadership Communication: A Critical Introduction to Theory and Practice" in late 2025.
I believe that embracing resistance and fear is one of the best way to open up new learning pathways. New communication skills aren’t just learned, they are embodied. I am passionate about the active application of communication tools to make better speakers. When deep thinkers, soft talkers, or marginalized voices improve their communication skills, our world changes for the better.
Performing Arts
After obtaining a degree in Musical Theater from Northwestern University, Los Angeles became home. For the past 25 years I have been lucky enough to work on film productions all over the world... Australia, Greece, Portugal, Ukraine, as well as many US cities and states. These travels have allowed me to experience many different forms of communication.
Acting career highlights include Zoey Cassavetes' Other Side of the Game, which garnered a win at the Tribeca Film Festival, and producer Ron Howard and director Bryce Dallas Howard's film When You Find Me, which had a successful run at Sundance. Stage highlights include The Triumph of Love and First Love, both recognized as Los Angeles Times Critic's Choice picks. Recent television highlights include The Rookie, Good Trouble, Pam & Tommy, The Affair, Glee, The Newsroom, Grey's Anatomy, and C.S.I.; as well as over 100 national commercial campaigns.
As I continue to explore diverse roles and bring stories to life, I draw on my acting experiences and use them to deepen my communications coaching skills.
